About ISCOP

Iscop has been accredited by APEDA (Accreditation No.NPOP/NAB/0015) People who are interested in human welfare have started realizing the importance of “Organic Agriculture”, consequently organically produced food products are sold in the developed countries with premium prices. There is grater awareness for organic agriculture among the farmers and consumers.

In order to promote organic agriculture on a scientific and organised manner with the help of the experienced agricultural scientists, a service organization by name OASIS was started in March 2000 under Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act. 27 of 1975 at Coimbatore.

Certification is one way of ensuring the products claimed to be organic that are actually produced according to organic farming principles and standards set up by Govt. of India. certification of organic products is basically the certification of a production system and more complex one.

For gaining consumers’ confidence valid certification is an essential pre-requiste for marketing in internal market as well as export markets. In order to undertake certification services, an Independent and separate unit of OASIS by name “Indian Society for Certification of Organic Products” (ISCOP) was formed with seven mandates and registered under Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act. 27 of 1975 (No.006/6.01.2003) on 6th January, 2003 at Coimbatore.

ISCOP is an Independent nationally operating non-profit organization for conducting inspections and issuing certification for organic production techniques to cover organic inputs and outputs.

ISCOP is governed by the General Body and day to day management is delegated to a Managing Committee. The certification for organic production techniques to cover organic inputs and outputs.

ISCOP is developing strong technical collaboration with OASIS, APEDA and overseas certifying agencies.

ISCOP is in line with the National Standard for Organic Products, notified under National Programme on Organic Production (NPOP) by Govt. of India. ISCOP is committed to gain consumers’ trust in integrity and reliability of its certification marks.
